Hello, my name is Neus and I am here to teach you some Catalan! About me: I come from a town called Centelles (an hour away from Barcelona), where I studied simoultaneously Spanish and Catalan in the school. I can speak perfectly both languages, although I have always used Catalan to talk with my family and most of my friends. Later on, my life drove me to study music in Barcelona, and finally two an a half years ago I moved to Germany, where I've just finished a Master in Music Performance. As I arrived to Karlsruhe I had the chance to teach Catalan and currently I work with two groups of students; an advanced one, and a super basic-starter level. I am always amazed by them! They have such an interest on this language and the culture that represents. It makes me really happy. I always try to meet their needs by creating special material for each session, keeping it as dynamic and motivating as possible. If you want to learn Catalan to study, to work, to comunicate with family or friends, or because you are simply looking for a new challenge, let me know! Neus.
Hello everyone, my name is Ester and I’m from Barcelona. Catalan is my mother tongue and I’ve been teaching Catalan and English for the last 7 years. I’m a qualified Social Educator and I mainly use storytelling strategies (incorporate true or fictional stories) in order to engage my students and make learning more relevant to them. My Catalan lessons are tailored made. If you only need to know elementary vocabulary and structures for a short stay, we’ll focus on everyday language and will do lots of practice. If you’re going to college, we’ll work more on grammar and academic structures. You might also want to work in Barcelona, then, according to your business, we’ll focus on specific voc and Catalan for business. So, are you planning a trip to Catalonia? Maybe Barcelona or Girona? Either if you are a MA student, a tourist or an entrepreneur, knowing some Catalan is going to be extremely helpful. Why? Although we all speak Spanish, Catalan is officially needed at school/universities and if you’re willing to work or doing some business in Catalonia, elementary Catalan in your CV is a must. Also, as a tourist, some knowledge of Catalan will help you to get a wider view of our culture, and believe me, there’s nothing that Catalan people like the most than a visitor or foreigner using some basic Catalan words when addressing to them, you’ll win them over! And everything, using real material with lots of tips in order to keep you updated about what’s going on in Barcelona.
