I'm Regina, an American living in the Southwest of France. I began teaching shortly after moving here in 2006. Teaching had been an interest for years, but my Bachelor's degree is in Political Science and my Master's degree is in International Relations.
I worked for two language training companies in Paris, from 2006 to 2013. My students worked in Banking, Finance, Fashion, IT and Pharmaceuticals. The lessons covered a range of needs, but a recurring theme was the need to negotiate and communicate internationally.
I also gave private lessons to children ages 11 to 18, and university students.
After moving to Bordeaux in 2013, I began teaching English in the nursing and paramedical field. Shortly thereafter, I taught English for pre-law students at the University of Bordeaux. Most recently, I taught English and International Professional Development for a private MBA program.
My teaching style is pretty relaxed. After getting to know the student - interests, goals - I create a general lesson plan touching on habitual problems for English learners. However, that plan is never set in stone. I let the student guide the work, and make it a point to try multiple approaches to any difficulties we can't surmount together.
The most important thing is that the student is engaged in our work and enjoys working with me to reach their goals.
