Hello, I am corporate trainer and writer in Los Angeles, California. Previously, I lived in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico and worked as an ESL teacher. I have over 3 years of combined experience working with students in classes, business, private one-on-one classes, and also online. I came to Mexico about 3 years ago, and I have been teaching and training ever since. I have a Masters degree in International Relations and a Bachelors in Studio Art and French. I am fluent in Spanish and English, and although I need some practice I also speak French. I hold a 140-hour certification in TEFL and two 25-hour certifications in Business English and Teaching English to Young Learners.
I teach students of all ages from 5 years old to 65 years of age, so I have a great range of experience with many ages and learning styles. With my students I have taught everything from basic grammar and starter English to more specialized Business terminology and advanced English. I really enjoy a communicative learning approach in which my students profit from speaking and using the grammar that we learn in class in order to reinforce their skills. I believe in making my students comfortable, comfortable enough to make mistakes because without making mistakes we never learn. I always look forward to great conversations in which students' speech is the central focus of the class. I find that in this way students are able to discover topics they are interested in, they improve vocabulary by discovering new words, and they are able to review errors in grammar as they are speaking. This helps to create a long-lasting learning experience. I also enjoy sharing resources with my students, and I feel that the most rewarding aspect of teaching is seeing how far my students come after their time spent with me, and I truly believe that as a teacher I learn everyday just as much as my students learn from me.
