I’ve been teaching, training and tutoring as part of my professional life for over twenty years. It's what I enjoy and what I do best.
A Bachelor’s degree in Communication/Marketing, a Master’s Degree in Marketing, 150 hour TEFL certificate and a Toastmasters Certificate of Effective Communication.
My teaching English experience includes being an ESL teacher in Spain for almost a year, teaching grade school and high students ESL in Colombia for about 7 months, being a technical lead and facilitator for an online interactive ESL program called Cada Dia Engles, and tutoring English in person and online. I have about 10 years developing technical training for professionals, executives and sales associates. I also taught preschool both professionally and as a volunteer.
I’m a native & citizen of the United States, from the middle of the country. Our accent is very neutral. There's a university famous for training broadcasters near my home town because the accent is so desirable.
My approach is a practical one - learn what’s most important. That can be objective measures or it can be whatever the student says. It’s beneficial to be clear on objectives at the outset and have them to work toward.
My style is practical too…. but sometimes the enjoyable approach works better than repetition. I have used music and song lyrics, fun activities and counting money as ways to teach English.
